These are a Few of my Favourite Things

This week has seemed LONG. I had some weird shifts and some long days this week and it’s gotten me all off kilter. Especially since I have a few days off at the end of next week, and you know how slow time can go when you’re waiting for a holiday.

My healthy eating kick seemed to disappear this week and all I wanted to eat was cake or chocolate or nothing at all. I don’t have a sweet tooth so it’s all a little strange, but I went with it! It’s pancake day this Tuesday so we’ve bought some pancake mix to have with sugar and lemon – totally defeats the point of Shrove Tuesday using up all the eggs etc in the house, but never have eggs anyway!

We’ve had a little more snow and sleet this weekend. Thankfully it’s not settling this time – I can’t wait for some spring weather! I was hoping that the weather might turn for the better towards next weekend. We have a nice day and evening planned in London on Saturday and I’m fed up wrapping up warm and carrying extra layers in my bag!

Birthday girl, cake, Bobbing for Baubles

Friday was my Sister’s birthday and the whole family got together and had a meal to celebrate. It was great to spend time with everyone together and see the kids get high on sugar 😀

One of my customers was wearing my favourite perfume yesterday. It’s amazing how much a smell brings back memories. When I turned 19 one of my best friends bought me a bottle of Light Blue by D&G. I hardly ever wear perfume but I loved this. I’d only started seeing G Man about a month before and so I associate this scent with our first few months together. I wore the perfume on our wedding day too. I’m still using the same bottle, 11 years later – I don’t want to wear it too much or I’ll lose the effect I get when I wear it. I’ll probably wear it next weekend too when we celebrate Valentine’s Day. It smells of excitement and apprehension. It’s yummy!

I acquired a new nail polish on Friday. I used my Boots Advantage Card points and got an Essie polish I’ve been eyeing up, for free! It’s called Bobbing for Baubles (I’m guessing it was part of their winter range!) and it’s the closest thing I can find to the one Jennifer Lawrence wore in Silver Linings Playbook. It’s gorgeous!

Last night we watched Sinister. I love scary movies and had been looking forward to this for a while. But it just didn’t hit the mark. There were too many red herrings and the plot wasn’t overly strong. There were a couple of jumps but nothing scary. I keep hearing about a film called Mama which is intriguing me. Has anyone seen it yet? Will it get me nice and scared? We began to watch Ted today but turned it off after 45 minutes. We just couldn’t find it funny! Such a shame.

Next week is all about Valentine’s and I want to go for it full throttle this year. What are your plans?
